Small Town Life and the Black Sheep Coffee Shop

It’s late morning and life is predictable here in Duchesne Utah and at the Black Sheep Coffee Shop…

The regulars shuffle in. Sonora, the owner of Black Sheep Coffee is hard at work making great coffee drinks (really!) and the wifi is FAST. Not bad for the frontier eh? Enjoy this interview with Sonora, a tour of the coffee shop and a brief walk down “the main drag” here in Duchesne.

The weather over the past few days has been spectacular. Mornings near 40, afternoons in the 60’s. Mother nature is making up for the MASSIVE rainfall (1.26″) that fell late last week (and another fairly good rainfall a few days after that!)

Black Sheep Coffee – a “community center” and meeting place (for old and new friends)

Most importantly, the winds have been light – unusual for Starvation State Park at this time of year! It has allowed me to get in MORE than my fair share of paddling time on the lake. After about a week here, I’m thinking of moving on as I have to be near Brian Head (Ski Area) in about 8 days. I can’t believe the ski area is due to open on November 8th!

Black Sheep Coffee – a relaxed place!

In addition to my now daily paddle sessions (lasting for up to 2 hours in my new and VERY comfortable kayak), I spend time at Black Sheep Coffee. It’s a great place for me to write and work on this website.

Much more on my new kayak coming soon!

Small Town Life and Duchesne, Utah – Life on the (Modern) Frontier

A friend inspired this post as in his words, I’m living in the “frontier” – which in many ways, it STILL is. This is why I wanted to interview Sonora, show off her Black Sheep Coffee Shop and the town in general. Duchesne has become a regular stop for me as I enjoy the “vibe”, the lake, and small town life in general!

My next post will likely highlight paddling on Starvation and then I plan to share thoughts on a very disturbing sales practice in the RV industry.

A quick word about GOLD… (This is NOT advice.) I continue to invest in gold (and silver) as I believe these metals to be a method of protecting wealth. A few years ago, I was introduced to Goldbacks – a highly fungible (and functional) form of gold and one that many local businesses are now accepting. Watch my brief video below and visit HERE (on the page that loads, scroll down to the Goldbacks) to learn more about Goldbacks.

Final Thought… It’s “medicare season.” I know this from the ads that bombarding us all on TV! I entered the medicare system last year and as a traveler I came to some VERY IMPORTANT realizations. HERE is the article I posted at that time that details what you need to know about Medicare as an RV traveler.
